Chemical experiments, robot control, as well as virtual reality and many interactive presentations for both ordinary people and science enthusiasts. All of this and more will be part of this year’s European Researchers’ Night, which will be held this Friday, September 27, in five Slovak cities. So don’t hesitate! See you in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica, Košice, Žilina, and Poprad.

The world around us becomes more and more interconnected, and that is why the main theme of this year’s Science Night is Complexity. “Visitors will learn from interesting lectures by Slovak and foreign scientists, as well as interesting experiments, why do we need to address climate changes not only from ecological point of view, but also we need to consider the knowledge from other scientific disciplines,” says Ľubomír Bilský, director of the The Slovak Organisation for Research and Development Activities (SOVVA), which organizes the European Researchers’ Night in collaboration with Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), Slovak Centre of Scientific and Technical Information (SCSTI) and Euractiv.

Close to science in five Slovak cities

The 18th European Researchers’ Night, which attracted 150 000 visitors last year, will bring a rich program to five Slovak cities. During the Friday all-day event, robotics and the topic of artificial intelligence will be present in each city. “In Bratislava, visitors will be able to see a demonstration of the work of ROBOT-ník Sam, who is already assisting construction workers on building sites. In several cities, visitors will have an opportunity to try programming robots,” adds Ľubomír Bilský.

Are you a fan of puzzles? Then don’t miss the Tangram workshop led by an instructor at the Aurelium Science Center in Bratislava. Can you guess what bees know and we don’t? Or how the life of bees is connected to microplastics in nature? Don’t guess but come and find out at interactive lectures by scientists and beekeepers. Join the search for Archimedes and take home a well-deserved reward, step into a room full of 3D printers, try working with 3D pens, and discover interesting things you never knew. All this and more awaits you at European Researchers’ Night in our capital city.

Where can you experience the European Researchers’ Night 2024
