Institute of Experimental Physics SAS is once again organizing the SPACE::LAB summer school, which will take place from August 25 to 27, 2025. The event will be held at the Department of Space Physics on Bulharská 4, Košice.

Who is the summer school for

The summer school is an ideal opportunity for students and young professionals who are fascinated by space and have basic programming skills. If you want to learn how to use modern artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in space research, this event is for you.

What to expect from SPACE::LAB 2025

Today, as artificial intelligence is introduced to all fields, a question arises: What will people do if AI takes over all tasks? We believe that AI is a useful tool that we need to learn to use effectively. During the summer school, you will experience how human–AI collaboration can create a synergistic effect and push the boundaries of our knowledge.

The program will focus on

  • using AI assistants: You will learn how to effectively write code for processing data from space missions with the help of AI;

  • latest trends: You will get acquainted with advanced concepts such as AI agents and MCP (Model Context Protocol) servers;

  • current space missions: You will receive the latest updates on European Space Agency (ESA) missions, such as Euclid and the upcoming Vigil mission, and learn how AI is gradually being integrated directly into space technologies.

Theoretical lectures will be combined with practical programming workshops, where you will immediately apply your newly acquired knowledge under the guidance of experts. A high-quality program is guaranteed by experienced lecturers from the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS, Technical University of Košice, Comenius University in Bratislava, and the private sector.
