Slovak and Hungarian companies collaborate in the space sector

On February 19, 2025, the Hungarian/Slovak Joint Space Event 2025 took place in the premises of the University Library of the Technical University of Košice. It was organized under the patronage of the European Space Agency (ESA) and in cooperation with the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS within the framework of the Eastern Slovak Space Cluster. This meeting followed the presentation of the Slovak companies in Miskolc, Hungary.
The event was opened by the Deputy Mayor of Košice, Mgr. Marcel Gibóda, who emphasized the importance of international cooperation in the field of space research for the development of the region. This was followed by presentations by Hungarian partners, who presented their current projects and technologies in the field of space research and industry.
The program also included a lecture “Slovak Space Law” by Gabriel Stančík from the Ministry of Transport of the Slovak Republic, where he presented the legislative aspects of space activities in Slovakia. ESA representatives, including A. Kane and S. Airey, informed about the possibilities of internships, education and employment at ESA for students and experts from various fields, thereby emphasizing the need for a wide range of experts, not only scientists, but also IT specialists, mechanics and HR workers.
During the rich program, B2B meetings and a round table were organized as well, where representatives of Hungarian and Slovak companies had the opportunity to get to know each other and discuss potential joint projects in the presence of ESA representatives.
Parallel to the presentations, the section “Career Opportunities in the Space Sector” attracted many students. They had the opportunity to visit the stands of individual organizations, academic institutions, technology companies and research centers, where they received information about internships, job positions and further education opportunities in the field of space research and technology. Among the presenters were the Faculty of Aviation TUKE, FED Europe, Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, Innovlab – startup center Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions, Amentum Slovakia, 3IPK, ROEZ R&D, Sparring, ENTROPI.space, C3S, ESA, Enterprise Europe Network, University Science Park Technicom, Cassovium, Admantis Engineering, Europlanet Magazine and the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS.
The event represented a significant step in strengthening cross-border cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia in the field of space research and industry, while emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and knowledge exchange for the future development of this dynamic sector. It was also the first event organized by the East Slovak Space Cluster, which currently consists of the Institute of Experimental Physics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, v. v. i., Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, Technical University of Košice, Deutsche Telekom IT Solutions and the Slovak Space Office (SARIO Agency).
The event represented a significant step in strengthening cross-border cooperation between Hungary and Slovakia in the field of space research and industry, while emphasizing the importance of joint initiatives and knowledge exchange for the future development of this dynamic sector.
