Seminar: Quantum structure of space
Dear colleagues
We would like to cordially invite you to seminar, which will take place on December 7, 2023 at 1 PM in the Auditorium of SAS Institutes at Watsonova 47 in Košice (poster).
Mgr. Samuel Kováčik, PhD., member of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics at Comenius University (FMPI CU) in Bratislava will present a talk entitled “Quantum structure of space”
Annotation:
We do not know the quantum theory of gravity, but there are several hypotheses. These vary in detail, but in general they predict that at some level space has a quantum structure. The description of physics in such a space requires certain modifications, in the lecture we will introduce two of them and show how they lead to non-trivial astronomical predictions.
CV:
Samuel Kováčik is a theoretical physicist. He finished his PhD. at FMPI CU, and continued as postdoc at Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, where he received a research grant from the Irish Research Council. Today, he works again at FMPI CU and Masaryk University. In his research, he deals with modifications of quantum mechanics, numerical simulations and matrix models. He cleans his karma by writing articles about the most ordinary topics.
In 2016, he founded the Vedátor project.
Accompanying events:
– SPACE::TALK entitled „Was there a Big Bang“ on December 7, 2023 at 6PM at Bulharská 4 in Košice
– Presentation of his book “Kúsky reality” (Pieces of reality) on December 8, 2023 in Artfórum bookshop at Hlavná 87 in Košice
We are looking forward to seeing you there!
Best regards
Slavo Gabáni and Šimon Mackovjak
