SAS awards 2019 for the members of Institute of Experimental Physics

SAS awards are the highest form of rewards for the research activities of scientists working in this institution. This year’s award ceremony took place on June 23 at the SAS Congress Center in Smolenice. Pavol Šajgalík, president of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, rewarded several members of the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS in Košice.

The 2019 SAS award for the experimental results was given to Marián Jurčišin and Eva Jurčišinová from the Department of Theoretical Physics for the research in the field of thermodynamic properties of frustrated magnetic systems. The 2019 SAS award for the experimental results of young researchers was given to Michal Rajňák from the Department of Magnetism for the outstanding results in the field of ferrofluids for electrical engineering applications. The 2019 SAS award for the popularization of science and social application of science was given to Šimon Mackovjak for SPACE::LAB – a place to engage, educate and involve the young generation in space research and engineering. The awards were presented in the presence on the Speaker of the SAS Assembly PhDr. Zuzana Kusá, CSc., vice-presidents of the individual departments of sciences at SAS RNDr. Pavel Siman, PhD., Prof. RNDr. Karol Marhold, CSc., RNDr. Miroslav Morovics, CSc., and vice-president of the SAS for Science, Research and Innovations prof. RNDr. Peter Samuely, DrSc. The invitation to the ceremony also accepted Richard Vašečka, Chairman of the Committee of the National Council of Slovak republic for education, science, youth and sport, Štefan Rozkopál, Head of the Office of the President of Slovak Republic, Ľudovít Paulis, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, Radoslav Kutaš, State Secretary of the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic, representatives of the universities and members of the Scientific Council of SAS.
