Experiment in RTVS about superfluidity

At very low temperatures, the electric current can flow through some metals without resistance. Even some fluids also flow without resistance. How is it possible and how can scientists achieve temperatures lower than those in space? How can such research help in medicine, power engineering or in space exploration?
