Distinguished personalities of SAS 2023

Honoring the long-standing, important and exceptional workers of the Slovak Academy of Sciences was the main reason behind the celebratory seminar Distinguished personalities of SAS 2023, which was held on Monday, September 25, 2023, in lecture hall of Dionýz Blaškovič (former meeting place of the Institute of Virology at Biomedical Research Center SAS). In a festive and friendly atmosphere, 15 long-term employees of the SAS, who are also celebrating an important jubilee this year, received the Salutation letter from the Presidium of SAS.

“It is very rare to meet not only educated but also wise people in this century,” said the host of the event, Juraj Turis, who also congratulated the “invisible but very present seventy years old Slovak Academy of Sciences itself, which just like today jubilants enjoys the great trust of society and unquestionable admiration.”

President of the SAS, prof. Pavol Šajgalik followed the opening words with ceremonial speech and congratulations. “It is always an unforgettable meeting, because each of the awardees has left an unforgettable mark on the academy, and SAS is visible thanks to you as well. I am extremely glad that we have such people at our institutes who still have something to say to their followers – and not only to them. For the fourth time, SAS has become the most trustworthy institution, which shows a very good reputation amongst the public,” said prof. P. Šajgalík and again congratulated the awardees.
