Christmas Science Lair

This year too we have prepared Christmas Science Lair, which you can turn on online and unveil the magic of Christmas.

Every year during this this holiday season we follow several customs, such as:

• decorating trees and houses
• fasting on Christmas Day
• in the evening we sit at a loaded table, where Christmas carp or other fish cannot be missing.

Do you want to know where did these customs originated? How did our grandparents used to celebrate Christmas? Why carp and not other fish?

We will seek for the answers during the Christmas Science Lair ONLINE. Your guides will be Mia Filčáková, Katka Hromuľáková and Danka Kušnírová, all members of the Department of History, Faculty of Arts at the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice. All the crafty hands are welcome to our creative workshop: we will be making a traditional Slovak tree decoration.
