APVV Excellence in Science

Recently published publication entitled Excellence in Science by which the Slovak Research and Development Agency (APVV) presents the results of excellent research projects. The publication contains information about the implementation and results of several years of work of Slovak experts on projects over the period 2015 to 2019 in basic and applied research of natural, technical, medical, agricultural, social and human sciences.

Among the selected research projects at an excellent level was also chosen the project APVV-14-0605 entitled “Superconductor-insulator transition”, under the leadership of Mgr. Pavol Szabó, CSc., head of the Center for Low Temperature Physics at our institute in cooperation with colleagues from Faculty of Science, UPJŠ in Košice and Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University in Bratislava. Congratulations to the head researcher and his team!

The projects presented in this publication were submitted within the general call of the APVV with the designation VV 2014. The general call VV 2014 did not have any restrictions regarding the research focus of the projects. The specific focus, goals and content of the research and development was determined by the applicants only. Applications could had been submitted by legal entities and individuals – businessmen without restriction of affiliation to the research and development sector. Within the public call VV 2014, a total of 896 applications for research and development projects funding were received and registered, and 148 applications were supported. The beginning of the projects was set to July 1, 2015, while the latest completion date was set to June 30, 2019. Subsequently in 2019, the evaluation of completed projects was carried out by respective section committees based on the final project reports submitted by responsible researchers, 30 days after the completion of the project.
