Discussion about what it’s like to be scientist and if it’s possible not to get mad.

October 8, 2025 at 5PM, Aula P1, Jesenná 5, Faculty of Science PJŠU

Are you thinking about a career in science but can’t quite imagine what it really involves? Or are you simply curious about how scientists live and what do they do? Then this event is for you!

On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, we will be talking with Audrey Grockowiak and Paľo Bobík. The conversation will be hosted by experienced moderator Radka Kovaľ Mazáková, and you’ll be able to join the discussion.

Audrey works in the solid-state physics (especially low temperatures physics) — she worked in labs on three continents and even beyond them: in microgravity during a parabolic flight that simulated weightlessness.

Paľo is an astrophysicist who has devoted most of his scientific career to Košice. He studied nuclear physics but observes the stars to investigate particle properties there; he also works on space missions.

After the talk there will be a chance to take a look around the laboratories of the Centre of Low Temperature Physics (Institute of Experimental Physics SAS) and the Faculty of Science PJŠU.

The talk is organized by Institute of Experimental Physics SAS as part of the GEM2SPIN project. Funded by the EU NextGenerationEU through the Recovery and Resilience Plan of the Slovak Republic, project no. 09I05-03-V02-00071.
