Superconducting train on its way to children

After a long time, the superconducting train cooled its superconducting interior again to nitrogen temperature, dusted off the magnetic rail and drove off to please the children in several places in Košice and its suburbs. From its depot at the Centre of Low Temperature Physics, it first set out to visit TUKE Picnic organized on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 between 9 AM and 1 PM on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the university (program). Exterior, knowledge and leisure activities focused on superconductivity and low-temperature physics were prepared for the participating high school students, and were led by PhD. students Marek Kuzmiak and Kamil Goliaš.

On Tuesday, May 31, 2022, the M. R. Štefánik Elementary School in Budimír near Košice was filled with scientists. Big, small, real and maybe future. All science enthusiasts were united by the Scientific Morning (link) event, which began at the schoolyard with a mysterious Elephant Toothpaste experiment and continued by initiating to the secrets of science at individual stands. A superconducting train also arrived to one of them, and introduced students to the secrets of low-temperature physics, performed by experienced popularizers Zuzana Vargaeštoková, Jozef Kačmarčík and their former PhD. student Miroslav Marcin. Going hand in hand with nitrogen experiments, vacuum experiments were enthusiastically performed by PhD. students Kamil Goliaš and Oleksandr Podopryhora.

   

   

   

Trains connect cities and nations. And it was no different in the case of the superconducting train, which, thanks to its presence, made the celebrations of International Children’s Day at the Hungarian Thália Theater in Košice much more pleasant. On Saturday, June 4, 2022, between 12AM and 6PM, it entertained children and adult visitors, thanks to professional low-temperature physicists Pavel Szabó and his graduates Benedek Faber and Levente Faber (link)
