Golden Times with Jiří Grygar in RTVS and CLTP
The universe is a great mystery to the average person. That’s why there are rare people who can easily explain complex things to ordinary mortals and open a window into space wide open. Okná vesmíru dokorán (eng. Windows of Space widely open) was an extremely popular educational program of Slovak Television, explaining fascinating things about the cosmos and our planet. The protagonists of this long-term show, astronomer Jiří Grygar (85) and psychologist Jana Plichtová (71), were invited to the penultimate shooting of the Golden Times, hosted by Elena Vacvalová together with Milan Lasica, which premiered on October 7, 2021.
On Sunday, July 25, 2021 (just a few days after the shooting of the mentioned episode and only couple of days after the sudden death of the actor Milan Lasica) the door of the Center of Low Temperature Physics was opened wide for the well-known popularizer of astronomy Jiří Grygar and his astronomer friends Pavel Gábor (deputy Director of the Vatican Observatory in the USA); Katarína Žilinská and Božena Štaudová (former teachers of the grammar school), who spent last two days of the of the traditional Ebicykl event in Košice before returning home. Colleagues from CLTP, M. Človečko, S. Gabáni, J. Kačmarčík and P. Szabó, presented their laboratories, research and history of low temperature physics in Košice. The fruitful and cheerful discussion continued at pre-lunch tea, where the experiences from the filming of the iconic show Okná vesmíru dokorán were also mentioned. I believe that we will remember this rare and kind meeting as our Golden Times.
