22 years since the flight of the first Slovak cosmonaut into space

On February 20, 2021 it has been 22 years since the first Slovak cosmonaut Ivan Bella launched into space aboard the Soyuz TM-29 spacecraft. He carried with him a series of scientific experiments, one of which, SK-1 Dozimetria, was born at our institute under the leadership of Ladislav Just. The article “Slovenské vesmírne odysey: kniha o hviezdach slovenskej astronómie” (Slovak Space Odyssey: a book about the stars of Slovak astronomy) is currently returning to the event on the webpage Veda na dosah. It deals with a book that describes the story of Ivan Bella’s first flight into space and which was brought to existence in participation with the scientists of our institute as well. &the book is presented by academician Štefan Luby from the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
