Slovak Academy of Sciences annually awards its top scientific workers. The SAS awards are the highest form of appreciation of their creative activities. The awards are given for excellent results achieved in scientific work, for results achieved in international scientific and technical cooperation and for the popularization of science. This year’s award ceremony took place on June 30, 2022 at the SAS Congress Center in Smolenice.

SAS award is the most valuable and significant award for a scientist of the Academy, it is a result of years of hard work and sacrifice,” said SAS president prof. Pavol Šajgalík and emphasized that SAS’s effort is not to devalue the price. “I wish you and the entire Academy that this award marks the pinnacle of appreciation, and that we will not have to convince society that science and research are essential for it.

Slavomír Michálek spoke on behalf of the awarded scientists, and thanked for this year’s awards. “We are part of the SAS big bang, with which we want to prove to the whole neighborhood that science and research have an optimistic future,” he concluded his speech.

During the ceremony, leading Slovak cellist Jozef Lupták performed during several musical blocks.
