On Wednesday, September 30, 2026, a ceremony was held in honour of the authors of outstanding publications. Their works, which appeared over the past year in prestigious publishing houses and scientific journals, received exceptional acclaim. Authors received the awards from the President of the SAS, Martin Venhart, in recognition of the long-term, systematic and internationally competitive work of both individuals and author teams of the SAS.<\/strong><\/p>\n

This year, SAS recognized a total of 21 publications in three categories: Top scientific publications in journals, Publications with an exceptionally high number of citations, and Top scientific monographs.<\/p>\n

In the beginning of the event, President of the SAS Martin Venhart addressed the audience, stressing that the Academy’s main mission is top-level science, on which the institution itself is built. “I am immensely pleased by the number of awardees and by the growing number of publications that meet the demanding criteria of this award. I wish you continued success in your work, and I hope that you keep enjoying science and that it brings you joy,”<\/em> M. Venhart told the awardees.<\/p>\n

“This event reminds us that the significance of research is judged not only by the number of publications, but above all by their quality, impact and international recognition,”<\/em> emphasised Tom\u00e1\u0161 Hrom\u00e1dka, SAS Vice-President for Science, Research and Innovation. Together with the President of the SAS, he then presented awards to the laureates.<\/p>\n

Top scientific publications in journals laureates:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Mgr. Miroslav Kocifaj, DrSc., and RNDr. Ladislav K\u00f3mar, PhD.,<\/strong> from the Institute of Construction and Architecture SAS, for their publication “Satellite imagery reveals near-horizon urban light emissions impacting ambient environment”,<\/em> published in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres.<\/em><\/p>\n

RNDr. Mari\u00e1n Sedl\u00e1k, DrSc.<\/strong><\/span>, from the Institute of Experimental Physics SAS for the publication “Resolving the mystery of the extraordinary polyelectrolyte behavior (anomalously slow diffusive mode) after half-century of research”,<\/em> published in the journal Macromolecules.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Juraj Feilhauer, PhD., Sergei Krylov, PhD., RNDr. Tetiana Kalmykova, PhD., and RNDr. Vladim\u00edr Cambel, DrSc.,<\/strong> from the Institute of Electrical Engineering SAS for the publication “Defining the magnetic configuration of the artificial spin system by FIB fabrication”,<\/em> published in the journal Applied Physics Letters. <\/em><\/p>\n

Ing. Ren\u00e1ta Reissov\u00e1 (Ruskov\u00e1), PhD., and Ing. Du\u0161an Ra\u010dko, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute of Polymers SAS for the publication “Controlling knot interactions through confinement”, <\/em>published in the journal Macromolecules. <\/em><\/p>\n

RNDr. Luk\u00e1\u0161 Ihnacik, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute of Parasitology SAS for the publication “Assessing water and health insecurity in informal settlements: Bringing Europe\u2019s invisible, marginalized Roma communities into focus: A systematic scoping review”, <\/em>published in the journal Social Science & Medicine. <\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Eli\u0161ka Krtilov\u00e1 and Mgr. Marek Slov\u00e1k, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Plant Science and Biodiversity Centre SAS for the publication “Reversibility of sex changes in the plant kingdom: More important than we thought?”, <\/em>published in the journal Biological Reviews. <\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Stanislav Komorovsk\u00fd, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry SAS for the publication “Hyperfine rovibrational states of H\u2083\u207a in a weak external magnetic field”,<\/em> published in the journal Physical Review Letters. <\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Jozef Zagrapan, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute of Sociology SAS for the publication “Freedom of information and the volume of requested data: An experimental study”, <\/em>published in the journal Government Information Quarterly. <\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Jakub \u0160rol, PhD., and doc. PaedDr. Vladim\u00edra Kurincov\u00e1 \u010cavojov\u00e1, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Centre of Social and Psychological Sciences SAS \u2013 Institute of Experimental Psychology CSPS SAS for the publication “Symbolic threat from the West, belief in pro-Kremlin conspiracy theories, and attribution of blame for the war in Ukraine: A two-wave longitudinal study”, <\/em>published in the journal Political Psychology.<\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Peter \u0160eb\u00e1\u0148, PhD., and doc. Mgr. Kamila Urban, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute for Research in Social Communication SAS for the publication “Relationship between monitoring judgments and self-report measures of metacognition in educational research”, <\/em>published in the International Journal of Educational Research. <\/em><\/p>\n

Mgr. Mgr. Lucia Berdisov\u00e1, PhD.<\/strong>, from the Institute of State and Law SAS for the publication “The non-constitutionalization and avoidant constitutionalization of gender in Czechia and Slovakia”, <\/em>published in the International Journal of Constitutional Law.<\/em><\/p>\n
