The event was held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, in the Dion\u00fdz Bla\u0161kovi\u010d Lecture Hall at the Institute of Virology of the Biomedical Research Center SAS in Bratislava, Patr\u00f3nka.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThese meetings are very special, because not only do they allow us to honor colleagues who have left a significant mark on the Slovak Academy of Sciences, but through their stories we also learn about everything the Academy has been through, the challenges it has faced, and, last but not least, the achievements that these scientists have made possible,\u201d<\/em> said SAS President Martin Venhart in his speech.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Honored personalities in 2026:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Section I:<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RNDr. Vladim\u00edr Cambel, DrSc., Institute of Electrical Engineering SAS<\/p>\n<p>doc. PhDr. O\u013ega Z\u00e1poto\u010dn\u00e1, CSc., Institute for Research in Social Communication SAS<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Together with SAS President Martin Venhart, who presented the honorees with commemorative letters, the official ceremony also included congratulations accompanied by bouquets from the vice-presidents representing the individual SAS divisions of sciences \u2013 Pavol Hvizdo\u0161, Daniela Antolov\u00e1 and Denisa Fed\u00e1kov\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">The musical accompaniment was provided by violin virtuoso Ivan Palovi\u010d, and the event was hosted by Juraj Turis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"isSelectedEnd\">Mira N\u00e1b\u011blkov\u00e1 delivered a speech of thanks on behalf of this year\u2019s distinguished personalities. <em>\u201cHaving the opportunity to work at Slovakia\u2019s central scientific institution is a gift and, at the same time, a great responsibility \u2013 outwardly, towards society, and inwardly, towards the academic community,\u201d<\/em> she said, adding: <em>\u201cSlovakia itself is a great source of inspiration for Slovak science. Today has called upon us to feel gratitude for the opportunity, with the support of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as our home institution, to fulfil our own love of knowledge (which stands so high in the Platonic-Socratic scala amoris), together with the uplifting feeling of working together on a common endeavor.
