The SAS Awards represent the highest form of recognition for the creative work of our scientists. The Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS) awards them annually for achievements in scientific research, science popularization, and also grants awards for exceptional international cooperation and to outstanding young scientists. During the ceremonial event at the SAS Congress Centre at Smolenice Castle, honors were also presented to exceptional scientific personalities.<\/b><\/p>\n

We also granted high honors to members of the former SAS Presidium and to the long-time President\u00a0<\/i>\u2013<\/i>\u00a0not only for their scientific achievements but also for their contributions to science management and the administration of the SAS. SAS Awards for Scientific Research Achievements were presented to:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n The research team from the Plant Biology and Biodiversity Centre SAS<\/strong> under the leadership of Mgr. Maksym Danchenko, PhD, including Mgr. Olha Lakhneko, PhD., Mgr. Maryna Kryvokhyzha, PhD., and MSc. Shubhi Mishra, for their scientific work Advanced Research on Plant Stress.<\/p>\n Prof. Elena Marushiakov\u00e1 and Prof. Veselin Popov from the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology SAS<\/strong> for their publication Stalin vs. Gypsies \u2013 Roma and Political Repressions in the USSR.<\/p>\n Barbora Buz\u00e1ssyov\u00e1, PhD.,<\/strong> from the Institute of History SAS for her monograph The Eastern Bloc and Sub-Saharan Africa \u2013 Czechoslovakia, UNESCO and Development Aid from the 1960s and Beyond.<\/p>\n SAS Award for Young Scientists:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n Mgr. PhDr. Matej Ruttkay, CSc., PhDr. Jaroslava Ruttkayov\u00e1, and team, for the development of an archaeological park and museum in the village of C\u00edfer, part P\u00e1c, in cooperation with the municipality of C\u00edfer, Ing. The full version of his speech is provided as an attachment.<\/p>\n The ceremonial event was musically accompanied by Professor Daniel Buranovsk\u00fd, a graduate of the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, where he later served as Vice-Rector for Research, Development, and Artistic Activities. He currently teaches piano at the same institution and performs at international music festivals. As a soloist, he has collaborated with all symphonic orchestras in Slovakia and has performed in almost every European country, as well as in the USA, Brazil, and Asia.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
