On Thursday, June 5, 2025, a seminar of the winners of the 23rd Slovak Academy of Sciences Competition for Young Researchers under 35 years took place in the auditorium on Watsonova street in Ko\u0161ice. Awardees from all three scientific sections presented their research topics to colleagues as well as to members of the Presidium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The young scientists and other employees of the Slovak Academy of Sciences later gathered for an evening concert of the Ko\u0161ice State Philharmonic at the Palace of Arts, under the baton of conductor Kirill Karabits. The audience also enjoyed performances by soloists Alexandra Conunova (violin) and Andreas Brantelid (cello). The program included works by Ivan Karabits, Ukrainian composer and the conductor\u2019s father: Vio Serenade<\/em> for strings, Johannes Brahms\u2019 Concerto for Violin, Cello, and Orchestra in A minor, Op. 102<\/em>, and two pieces by John Adams: Short Ride in a Fast Machine<\/em> and Doctor Atomic Symphony<\/em>. The last mentioned piece tells the story of physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer during the period when he and his team were intensively working on the development of the first atomic bomb.<\/p>\n

After the performance, the President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Prof. RNDr. Pavol \u0160ajgal\u00edk, DrSc., addressed the guests on the last day of his term in the office. He expressed his gratitude for the cooperation and many pleasant moments spent in Ko\u0161ice, and personally presented diplomas to the winners of this year\u2019s competition.<\/p>\n
