This year, for a first time a new category dedicated for PhD. students has been included in the Competition of the Young Scientists of the SAS\u00a0up to 35 years.\u00a0 23 PhD. students out of all 3 scientific sections submitted their work. The competition confirmed the high level of entries. Winners presented their work on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 during seminar in\u00a0the Hall of SAS in Bratislava. In the end, Vice President of the SAS for the 1st scientific section Dr. Martin Venhart as the SAS representative, and Professor \u013dubica Lacinov\u00e1, member of the Presidium of the SAS for the 2nd scientific section presented the winners with diplomas.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The first idea of\u00a0creating a special category for PhD. students in the\u00a0Competition of the Young Scientists of the SAS\u00a0up to 35 years was brought by Young Scientists of the SAS community organization.\u00a0This initiative was positively received by the competition guarantor, Professor \u013dubica Lacinov\u00e1. “To be honest, I have been thinking about establishing a category for PhD. students for the last two years, because they themselves have shown an interest in participating in this competition. However, it was intended only for young researchers. I am glad, that we have decided for this step. According to what we heard today and last week in Ko\u0161ice during the seminar of the winners of the young researchers, it was confirmed that all entries were at the top level and if they were together in one category, the jury would be really clueless in deciding whom to award.”<\/em> said\u00a0Professor \u013dubica Lacinov\u00e1 after diploma ceremony.<\/p>\n

High quality of submitted works\u00a0also pleased the members of the committee. “As a chairman of the committee for the 1st scientific section I have to admit, that I was very pleased to see the high quality of the proposed works and together with my colleagues we had to make a really difficult decision.\u00a0However, I am sincerely glad that we have such top-notch doctoral students at SAS. I perceive this as a strong guarantee of a great future and development of SAS,”\u00a0<\/em>added Martin Venhart after the ceremony.<\/p>\n
