On Monday, virtual event <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sav.sk\/?doc=educ-dod\"><em>Open doors week<\/em><\/a>\u00a0was launched on its website. The aim is to present current topics in the form of video presentations, which can be applied for by those interested in the third degree university studies. The event will culminate tomorrow, April 16, 2021 by online meeting &#8220;ZOOM with SAS scientists&#8221;, which will provide space for informal discussion between students and representatives of institutes and supervisors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Slovak Academy of Sciences is also adapting its activities to the constraints associated with the pandemic. &#8220;<em>Due to current anti-pandemic measures we cannot invite students directly to our workplaces. At the same time, we have become accustomed to working in the online space and new possibilities have opened up for us. Those interested in PhD. studies can &#8220;meet&#8221; with potential supervisors in real time and thus they do not have to travel<\/em>, &#8221; explained \u013dubica Lacinov\u00e1, member of the Presidium of SAS for education and doctoral studies.<\/p>\n<p>This event is organized primarily for young people and graduates of the 2nd degree of university studies who are considering starting a scientific career. On the website <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sav.sk\/?doc=educ-dod\">tod.sav.sk<\/a>, they are able to watch presentations and videos from thirty scientific workplaces of the SAS. On Friday, April 16, the representatives of the participating institutes will be ready to discuss informally with the students during the online meeting &#8220;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/us02web.zoom.us\/j\/86521615448?pwd=bGpHc3lOU2tlNzltU29LeE0vTGdGQT09&amp;fbclid=IwAR3iCiILfSwsDTjhIe1y47yW0b32Sj3g-tNDqFAzdKimWF00c9D1t7yRR8M#success\">ZOOM with SAS scientists<\/a><\/em>&#8221; between 10.00 &#8211; 11.30 and 13:30 &#8211; 15:00.<\/p>\n<p>SAS offers a wide range of topics ranging from natural and social sciences, workplaces with good instrument background and active international cooperation. &#8220;<em>Our PhD. students can apply for grant programs and competitions, complete additional educational programs in the so-called soft skills, such as communication and presentation skills, project writing, orientation in scientific literature, transfer of science into practice, but also obtain accommodation at affordable price, lower than the actual costs,<\/em> &#8220;added the Vice-President of the SAS. <a href=\"https:\/\/mladi.sav.sk\/\">Young Scientists of the SAS<\/a>\u00a0also offer further activities and the opportunity to popularize their research.<\/p>\n<p>Scientific institutes of the Slovak Academy of Sciences are external educational institutions for PhD. studies. They collaborate with eleven universities in more than eighty study programs. The main partners of the institutes are top research universities such as Comenius University, Slovak University of Technology, Pavel Jozef \u0160af\u00e1rik University, Technical University of Ko\u0161ice or Technical University of Zvolen. Parts of the study programs are carried out in English language and admits foreign students from third countries as well. &#8220;<em>SAS departments currently have 512 PhD. students, of which 103 PhD. students are from abroad.
